31 The Easter Jokes Archive (2006–2015 Edition)

The decade between 2006 and 2015 was the era when Easter officially went viral. We started by posting our holiday plans on Facebook walls and ended by live-tweeting our family arguments over the last deviled egg. It was a time when the Easter Bunny had to compete with the first iPhones, Nintendo Wii bowling matches in the living room, and the sudden realization that if you didn’t post a photo of your Easter breakfast with a “Valencia” filter, it basically never happened.

The Easter Jokes Top 10: 20062015 Classics

  1. The Wii Bowling Easter (2006): Why was the living room so dangerous? Because after Easter brunch, Grandma decided to try Nintendo Wii, and the “Easter movement” involved swinging a remote into the ceiling fan.
  2. The iPhone Launch Easter (2007): Why was the egg hunt so slow? Because everyone stopped to figure out how to “pinch-to-zoom” on a photo of a bush instead of actually looking for the chocolate.
  3. The Facebook Wall Easter (2008): Why was the house so quiet? Because everyone was busy writing “Happy Easter!” on each other’s Facebook walls while sitting three feet apart on the same sofa.
  4. The Bitcoin Genesis Easter (2009): Why was the bunny so mysterious? Because 2009 was the year Bitcoin was born, and people started joking that the Easter Bunny was actually Satoshi Nakamoto in a suit.
  5. The iPad Easter (2010): Why were the baskets so flat? Because the “Easter gift” was now a giant glass tablet that we used to play Angry Birds while waiting for the ham to finish cooking.
  6. The Instagram Easter (2011): Why did the eggs look like they were from 1974? Because Instagram launched, and we spent the whole holiday putting “Lo-Fi” and “Earlybird” filters on our food until the soup looked orange.
  7. The Mayan Apocalypse Easter (2012): Why were the eggs hidden in a bunker? Because the Mayan calendar was ending, and we figured this might be the last time we ever had to worry about calorie counting.
  8. The “Frozen” Easter (2013): Why wouldn’t the kids come inside? Because Frozen was everywhere, and every child in America was outside trying to “Let It Go” while building a snowman out of mashed potatoes.
  9. The Ice Bucket Easter (2014): Why was everyone soaking wet on Sunday? Because the “Ice Bucket Challenge” hit its peak, and for once, the “Wet Monday” water fights had a charitable purpose.
  10. The Apple Watch Easter (2015): Why was everyone tapping their wrists? Because our watches kept telling us to “stand up” every hour, even though we were in the middle of a four-hour family dinner.

The Full Easter Jokes 20062015 Archive

  1. The Twitter Easter (2007): Why were the jokes so short? Because we had to explain the entire Easter brunch in 140 characters or less #Easter #Ham #Stuffed.
  2. The “Dark Knight” Easter (2008): Why was the bunny so serious? Because Heath Ledger’s Joker made us realize that some bunnies just want to watch the world burn… or at least hide the eggs where no one will ever find them.
  3. The FarmVille Easter (2009): Why was Mom so busy? Because she had to harvest her virtual Easter crops on Facebook before the real family arrived for dinner.
  4. The “Inception” Easter (2010): Why were we confused? Because we spent the whole holiday wondering if we were actually awake or if we were just dreaming about a giant chocolate rabbit inside a dream.
  5. The Game of Thrones Easter (2011): Why was everyone nervous? Because “Easter is Coming,” and we realized that a holiday feast in Westeros usually ends with someone losing their head.
  6. The Siri Easter (2011): Why was the phone so unhelpful? Because we asked Siri “Where are the eggs?” and she replied, “I found three hardware stores near you.”
  7. The Pinterest Easter (2012): Why was the table so “shabby chic”? Because every mom in the world discovered Pinterest and decided that Easter needed 45 mason jars and a lot of lace.
  8. The Gangnam Style Easter (2012): Why was the bunny dancing weird? Because PSY conquered the world, and even the Easter Bunny was doing the invisible horse dance in the mall.
  9. The Vine Easter (2013): Why were the videos so short? Because we only had 6 seconds to show the dog eating the chocolate before the video looped forever.
  10. The Selfie Easter (2014): Why were we all leaning back? Because “Selfie” was the word of the year, and the group photo required everyone to fit into a 45-degree angle.
  11. The Flappy Bird Easter (2014): Why was the dinner so tense? Because everyone was trying to get past a score of 10 on their phone while ignoring the actual conversation.
  12. The Star Wars Force Awakens Easter (2015): Why was the egg a droid? Because BB-8 was the new mascot, and we all wanted a rolling robot instead of a hopping bunny.
  13. The 3D Movie Easter: Why were we wearing sunglasses at lunch? Because 2010 was the peak of the 3D craze, and we thought everything looked better with an extra dimension.
  14. The “Planking” Easter (2011): Why was Uncle Dave lying face-down on the fence? Because 2011 was the year of “internet logic,” and a stiff body was the peak of humor.
  15. The “Call Me Maybe” Easter (2012): Why was the bunny so hopeful? “Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here’s an egg, so find it maybe?”
  16. The Kindle Easter: Why was the basket so light? Because instead of five books, the kids got one e-reader and spent the whole day staring at a screen that looked like paper.
  17. The Netflix Binge Easter (2013): Why did we skip brunch? Because House of Cards just dropped, and watching Kevin Spacey was more addictive than deviled eggs.
  18. The “What Does the Fox Say” Easter (2013): Why were we making weird noises? Because we finally wanted to know what the fox says, but the bunny still wasn’t talking.
  19. The “Left Shark” Easter (2015): Why was the decoration so messy? Because we all identified with the shark who didn’t know the dance moves, especially after three glasses of wine.
  20. The Dropbox Easter: Why were the photos in the sky? Because we finally stopped using USB drives and started putting all our Easter memories in a “magic folder.”
  21. The “Whatever” Decade: Why were we so chill? Because despite the transition from 3G to 4G, Easter remained the one day we tried to stay connected—even if it was just to our chargers.
