54 Adult Jokes: The 2002 “Web-Slinging & Reality Bites” Edition

In 2002, adult humor was caught in a web of pop culture. If you weren’t making jokes about Simon Cowell being mean, you were trying to figure out how to send a grainy 0.3-megapixel photo of your “equipment” via MMS. It was the year we realized that “Reality TV” meant watching people do things we usually did for free—like arguing and eating bugs—for a million dollars.

The 2002 Top 10: The “Upside Down & Unscripted” Jokes

  1. The Spider-Man Kiss: A guy tries to recreate the upside-down kiss with his wife. She looks at him and says, “If you stay like that for more than ten seconds, your blood pressure is going to pop your eyes out. Just eat your dinner, Peter.”
  2. The Ozzy Home: Why is marriage in 2002 like The Osbournes? Because there’s a lot of swearing, nobody knows where the remote control is, and the patriarch is constantly wandering around asking, “Sharon, where’s my dignity?”
  3. The Camera Phone: A guy gets the first Nokia with a camera. He sends a photo to his girlfriend. She calls him: “Is that a blurry thumb or should I be worried about your health?”
  4. The American Idol Date: A man finishes a romantic evening and asks, “How was I?” His wife looks at him and says, “It was a bit pitchy for me, dawg. You’re not going to Hollywood tonight.”
  5. The Bourne Identity: “I feel like Jason Bourne.” “Because you’re a super spy?” “No, because I woke up this morning and I have no idea how I got this bruise or why my bank account is empty.”
  6. The Star Wars Prequel #2: “Our sex life is like Attack of the Clones.” “Long and full of action?” “No, the dialogue is terrible and it’s mostly just green-screen CGI because the reality is too disappointing.”
  7. The TiVo Revolution: “I got TiVo!” “Now we can skip commercials!” “Yeah, but my wife also figured out how to fast-forward through my excuses. It’s a dangerous technology.”
  8. The Kelly Clarkson Dream: “I’m ‘A Moment Like This’!” “No, Harold, you’re ‘A Moment Like That’—short, forgettable, and eventually replaced by a country singer.”
  9. The Minority Report: “I’m like the Pre-Cogs.” “You can see the future?” “I can predict exactly which bad mood you’re going to be in three days before you even know it.”
  10. The Nickelback Hate: “Why is our relationship like a Nickelback song?” “Because everyone else hates it, but for some reason, we keep playing it on repeat.”

  1. The Eminem Show: “I’m the Real Slim Shady!” “No, you’re just a middle-aged man in a tracksuit who needs to sit down before his back goes out.”
  2. The Signs Movie: “There are crop circles in our backyard!” “That’s not aliens, that’s just where you fell over after the office party last night.”
  3. The My Big Fat Greek Wedding: Why is marriage like that movie? Because no matter what happens, your mother-in-law thinks Windex can fix it, including your failing personality.
  4. The DVD Extras: “I love the ‘Director’s Commentary’ on our arguments.” “What’s that?” “That’s when your mother calls and explains exactly what you meant to say.”
  5. The Bluetooth Earpiece: Why do men wear Bluetooth headsets in 2002? So they can look like Secret Service agents while their wives tell them to pick up milk and kitty litter.
  6. The Panic Room: “I built a panic room!” “Is it for safety?” “No, it’s the only place I can go where the Wi-Fi doesn’t reach and your sisters can’t find me.”
  7. The Men in Black II: “I need a neuralyzer.” “To forget the aliens?” “No, to forget the $200 I spent on that terrible sequel.”
  8. The 8 Mile: “You only get one shot!” “Yeah, and you missed it by about four inches and three minutes, Marshall.”
  9. The Scooby-Doo Movie: “I’m like Scooby-Doo.” “A lovable dog?” “No, I’ll do anything for a snack and I’m terrified of my own shadow.”
  10. The Ring: “I watched The Ring.” “Are you scared?” “The only thing scarier than a girl crawling out of a TV is my wife’s face when she sees the cable bill.”
  11. The Bachelor: Why is dating in 2002 like The Bachelor? You have to compete with 25 other people just to find out the guy is unemployed and lives with his parents.
  12. The SMS Flirting: “I sent her a text saying ‘U R HOT’.” “And?” “She replied ‘K’. I think our digital connection is failing.”

  17. The Die Another Day: “I’m like James Bond.” “Cool and collected?” “No, I have a bunch of invisible gadgets that never work when I need them.”
  18. The Dr. Phil Effect: “Dr. Phil says I need to ‘get real’.” “Great. Start by getting real about the fact that you haven’t mowed the lawn since 1999.”
  19. The Ice Age: “I feel like that squirrel Scrat.” “Why?” “I’m chasing a nut I’m never going to get, and the world is literally falling apart around me.”
  20. The Camera Phone Fail: “I took a picture of my dinner!” “It looks like a crime scene from an 8-bit video game. Delete it.”
  21. The Christina Aguilera: “I’m feeling ‘Dirrty’.” “Good, because the bathroom needs scrubbing and you’re the only one not doing anything.”
  22. The Catch Me If You Can: “I’m a master of disguise!” “I can see you hiding behind the refrigerator trying to avoid the tax man, Frank.”
  23. The Red Dragon: “I have the heart of a dragon!” “No, you just have heartburn from those 20-cent wings you ate at the bar.”
  24. The Nokia Snake: “I reached a new high score on Snake!” “Does that pay the mortgage? No? Then keep sliding.”
