67 Doctor Jokes: The 2011 “Siri Launch & Watson’s Diagnosis” Edition

In 2011, medical humor shifted toward the “Smart Assistant” era. Doctors were competing with Siri, who was often more polite but gave terrible medical advice, and hospitals were trying to figure out how to move paper charts to “The Cloud” without losing them in a digital thunderstorm. It was the year of the “Voice-Activated Patient” and the rise of the “Smart-Hypochondriac.”

The 2011 Top 10: The “Siri & Smart Doctor” Jokes

  1. The Siri Diagnosis: I asked Siri why my chest hurts. She said, “I found three pizza places nearby.” My doctor said, “That’s actually a very accurate diagnosis of your lifestyle.”
  2. The Watson Ego: My doctor is jealous of the IBM Watson computer. He said, “Watson may know every medical fact in history, but does he know how to overcharge you for a 5-minute consultation? I don’t think so.”
  3. The Cloud Confusion: I asked the nurse where my X-rays were. She said, “They’re in the cloud.” I looked out the window and said, “It looks pretty clear today, should I wait for a storm?”
  4. The iPhone 4S Reflex: My doctor tried to use Siri to take notes during my physical. Siri kept responding with, “I’m sorry, I can’t find ‘Tonsillitis’ in your contacts. Would you like me to call your mother?”
  5. The Jeopardy Physical: “Doctor, what is ‘a sharp pain in my side’?” “Correct! For $500, what is ‘something your insurance won’t cover’?”
  6. The Tablet Transition: My doctor has two iPads now. One for my medical records and one just to play Temple Run when I start talking about my childhood.
  7. The Smart-Hypochondriac: “I’m not a hypochondriac anymore,” the patient said. “I’m a ‘Data-Driven Health Enthusiast’ who happens to think he’s dying every time his phone vibrates.”
  8. The Second Opinion: “Doctor, I want a second opinion.” “Fine, go ask your phone. But don’t come crying to me when it tells you that a headache means you’ve been reincarnated as a toaster.”
  9. The QR Code Fever: My doctor put a QR code on my prescription. I scanned it and it just took me to a video of him buying a new boat.
  10. The Waiting Room: The magazines are from 2011! There’s an article about how “Streaming video” will never replace going to the doctor in person. We’ll see about that.

The 2011 General Clinic Jokes (Extended Archive)

  1. The Vision: “I see pixels.” “No, you just need to upgrade to the ‘Retina Display’ glasses. That’ll be $800.”
  2. The Surgeon: “I’m going to operate.” “Wait, is your scalpel voice-activated?”
  3. The Diet: “I’m on the ‘Siri Diet’. I ask her what to eat and she just ignores me until I give up and drink water.”
  4. The Exercise: “I’m using a ‘Smart Watch’.” “Is it making you thinner?” “No, but it tells me exactly how lazy I’m being in high resolution.”
  5. The X-Ray: “Your bones are fine, but your digital footprint is looking a bit fractured.”
  6. The Psychiatrist: “Doctor, I feel like I’m losing my ‘Sync’.” “Have you tried plugging yourself in overnight?”
  7. The Anesthesia: “Count backwards from ten.” “Ten… nine… eight… iCloud…”
  8. The Insurance: I asked if they cover ‘Cloud Storage’ for my medical history. They said, “Only if the cloud is in-network.”
  9. The Specialist: I went to a ‘Virtual Reality Surgeon.’ He didn’t cut me; he just gave me a headset and told me to ‘Imagine’ I was healed.
  10. The Reflex: He hit my knee. I accidentally sent a voice-to-text message to my boss that said “Wheee!”
  11. The Pharmacist: “Is this medicine ‘Smart’?” “It’s smarter than the guy who tried to pay for it with a picture of a check.”
  12. The Stethoscope: “Your heart sounds like a low-battery alert.”
  13. The Ear Exam: “I hear a static noise.” “That’s just the sound of 2011 technology aging in real-time.”
  14. The Surgeon’s Hands: “Steady as a surgeon’s.” “Even with the new ‘Smart-Scalpel’?” “Especially then, it has auto-correct.”
  15. The Memory: “Doctor, I forgot my Apple ID.” “That’s the modern version of ‘losing your soul’. I can’t help you with that.”
  16. The Nurse: “Scale of 1 to 10?” “My pain is a ‘Siri, I’m dying’ and my patience is a ‘Low Signal’.”
  17. The Surgeon 2: “I’m using a robotic arm controlled by an iPhone.” “What if you get a phone call mid-surgery?” “Then your gallbladder might accidentally tweet.”
  18. The Waiting Room 2: I’ve been here so long I’ve actually watched the entire ‘Harry Potter’ film series end on the lobby TV.
  19. The HMO: “We don’t cover ‘Digital Fatigue’. That’s what weekends are for.”
  20. The Transplant: “We found a donor, but their digital privacy settings are too high. We can’t access the kidney.”
  21. The Bill: “Why is there a ‘Voice Processing Fee’?” “Because I had to listen to you talk.”
  22. The Heart: “Your pulse is fast.” “I’m trying to download the new iOS!” “Okay, that’s a legitimate medical emergency.”
  23. The Dentist: “You have a cavity.” “Can I pay in ‘Angry Birds’ stars?”
  24. The HMO Gym: It’s just a room where you run on a treadmill that charges your own medical bill.
  25. The Sleep Study: “You stop breathing 5 times a night.” “Maybe I’m just ‘Buffering’?”
  26. The Blood Pressure: It hit 190 when the doctor said his new ‘Paperless Office’ means I have to fill out everything on a touch-screen that doesn’t work.
  27. The Mirror: “I look ‘Low-Res’.” “That’s just 2011 lighting. Nobody looks good in a world transitioning to HD.”
  28. The Referral: He sent me to a specialist who only takes appointments via ‘FaceTime’. The lighting was so bad he diagnosed me as a lamp.
  29. The Emergency: “Is there a doctor here?” “I’m an IBM Programmer!” “Can you fix his heart?” “No, but I can make it play Chess.”
  30. The Surgeon’s Hobby: “I collect 2010 iPads. I use them as plates.”
  31. The Pill Logic: “Take this pill and don’t look at a screen for an hour.” “I’d rather have the disease.”
  32. The Diet 2: “I’m eating ‘Gluten-Free’.” “Do you have an allergy?” “No, but my phone told me it’s the ‘in’ thing for 2011.”
  33. The Surgeon’s Ego: “I’m better than Watson.” “Watson doesn’t take 45-minute lunch breaks, Doctor.”
  34. The Pharmacy Wait 2: I’ve been here so long that the ‘New’ drug is now available as a ringtone.
  35. The Stress 2: “You’re stressed about the ‘End of the World’ in 2012.” “No, I’m stressed because my phone battery is at 2%.”
  36. The Ear Exam 2: “I can’t hear anything.” “Try taking the earbuds out. They aren’t part of your anatomy yet.”
  37. The Knee: “It hurts when I do this.” “Then stop doing that and update your ‘Walk’ app.”
  38. The Pager: My doctor finally gave his pager to a museum. He now gets ‘Push Notifications’ for every patient’s sneeze.
  39. The Generic 2: “Is this generic?” “It’s so generic it doesn’t even have an icon.”

  43. The Surgeon’s Fee 2: He asked for my ‘Kindle Fire’ as a deposit.
  44. The MRI: “Does this machine work with Siri?” “No, it’s a giant magnet. If Siri gets close, she’ll start speaking in tongues.”
  45. The Prescription: “I can’t read this.” “That’s because it’s ‘Encrypted’. You need a 12-digit key to see the dosage.”
  46. The Dentist 2: “This might hurt.” “My teeth?” “No, the fact that your ‘Premium’ plan just became ‘Basic’.”
  47. The Emergency Room: I waited 9 hours. I saw a man start a blog, get 10,000 followers, and get bored of it while waiting for a nurse.
  48. The Final Word: “You’re cured!” “Really?” “Yes, Siri said so, and who am I to argue with a phone?”
  49. The Lab Result: “You’re 5% blood, 95% ‘Waiting for a Connection’.”

  53. The Exit: “See you next year!” “Unless the 2012 prophecy is true and we all get ‘Deleted’!”
